Dell Rapids PBR won two of three games last week. PBR is 8-9 overall and 7-5 in the Cornbelt.
PBR 12, Madison 8 Blake Harms’ three-run home run in the bottom of the eighth inning gave PBR the win. Madison jumped out to a 6-0 lead after two innings off of starter Dale Solberg. Solberg pitched into the sixth inning and was relieved by Nick Merkwan. Madison led 8-7 after six innings. Landon Klock pitched the final two and a third innings without allowing a base runner as he struck out five. Dan Conrad was 4-4 with a home run and two doubles for PBR. Kevin Krull contributed three singles. Klock and Scott LeBrun both hit home runs.
PBR 8, Montrose 4 Scott LeBrun broke a 4-4 tie in the seventh inning with a grand slam. LeBrun worked the count full with two outs before delivering a shot to center field. Klock added a double and single. Craig Hansen hit two singles. Blake Harms pitched four innings and was relieved in the fifth by Preston Davis. Davis kept the score tied in the fifth by getting all three batters out he faced with runners at second and third. Klock picked up a save.
Brandon Valley 8, PBR 5 PBR rallied for three runs in the ninth inning but came up short of Brandon Valley 8-5 in a wood bat game at the Bird Cage in Sioux Falls. Michael Davis doubled and singled for PBR. Merkwan pitched four innings. Preston Davis pitched three innings in relief. Kevin Krull struck out the side in the eighth and completed the ninth inning in order. PBR travels to Harrisburg on Thursday and hosts the Dell Rapids Mudcats on Friday at Rickeman Field to open Quarry Days.
