Dells man honored for pork support

The South Dakota Pork Producers Council will recognize several outstanding individuals, organizations and businesses for their dedication to the pork industry Jan. 10 during their Annual Pork Congress at the Sioux Falls Ramkota Hotel & Exhibit Hall.

Jim Anderson of Dell Rapids will receive the Dedicated and Distinguished Service award for his years of service and dedication to the pork industry.

Anderson has worked in the pork industry for more than 34 years and has been a supporter of the South Dakota Pork Producers Council.

Anderson has also been a long-term sponsor of the SDPPC Annual Taste of Elegance.

Local grads earn USD scholarships

Area high school graduates enrolled at the University of South Dakota this fall are recipients of several University academic scholarships and awards, including the prestigious Coyote Commitment Veritas Scholarship and the Coyote Commitment Leadership Scholarship.

Dell Rapids High School graduate McKenzie Rinehart earned an $8,000 Coyote Commitment Leadership Scholarship and Flandreau High School graduate Lexy Antoine earned a $7,000 Coyote Commitment Distinction Scholarship.

Presented annually to academically talented high school graduates, these scholarships provide renewable financial assistance for incoming students for up to four years of enrollment at USD.

Funded by the USD Foundation through various scholarship donors, the scholarships are part of more than $5.3 million in annual scholarships awarded by the USD Foundation to University of South Dakota undergraduate and graduate students.
