Two more wins for the Lady Cardinals basketball team last week moved St. Mary’s season record above .500.
St. Mary’s (9-8) hosted Bridgewater-Emery Jan. 29, earning a 46-26 victory with tough second-half defense.
“We did a great job creating turnovers and converting them into points,” said Josh Lebrun, head coach of the Lady Cardinals.
St. Mary’s held Bridgewater-Emery to just seven points in the final two quarters of play.
Down the stretch, Lebrun said, it was success at the charity stripe that sealed the win. The Lady Cardinals shot 14 of 16 from the free throw line.
Kelly Michel led all scorers with 16 points.
The girls traveled to Colman-Egan high school Friday, beating the C-E Hawks in a 46-43 squeaker.
In a game with 11 lead changes, the Lady Cardinals found themselves trailing 14-12 at halftime after opening up a big lead in the first quarter.
It was Michel again leading the St. Mary offense with 20 points. She grabbed 12 rebound to earn a double-double.
