Boys basketball fans at the first-round district contest between the Quarriers and the Garretson Blue Dragons in Dell Rapids Tuesday night raised more than $2,400 to benefit a Sioux Falls girl who lost four family members in a one-vehicle car crash two weeks ago.
During halftime of the game in the Dell Rapids High School gymnasium, Activities Director Jeff Dvorak asked the crowd to keep Brittany Vollmer, a former Sioux Falls Christian student athlete, in their prayers before cheerleaders from both teams passed around offering buckets.

Vollmer’s, father, mother and two siblings were killed Feb. 23 west of Sioux Falls on I-90.
