As a former resident and subscriber to the Dell Rapids Tribune, I recently read the article regarding Sheriff Milsteadís comments on a vandalism problem that is of concern to your city.
I was appalled at the Sheriffís condescending attitude regarding your vandalism problem. His comments came across as arrogant in implying that you were lucky that you only have a vandalism problem and to stop whining. At the same time, he offered no proactive solutions other than a seemingly reluctant willingness to work with the City. This type of attitude only sent a message to vandals that they are of little concern and shows a total lack of leadership on Sheriff Milsteadís part.
You low vandalism problem may be due more to the quality of the people that live in your community than his leadership.
If the Sheriff is an elected official I hope you do not re-elect him. How disgusting.
