A Teeners riding .500 record

The Dell Rapids A Teeners – ages 15 and 16 – started the season with a 3-3 record.
Dell Rapids faced Renner 307 VFW in a 10-7 loss. Ryan Geraets led Dell Rapids with three hits in the non-league season opener Sunday June 2. Ben Gillogly and Zach Schroeder both singled. The pitching duties were shared by Riley Schmidt, Riley Jurgensen and Adam Karst.
The following night, Schmidt and Ty Hoglund both had two hits and drove in three runs to lead Dell Rapids to the 11-7 victory and an I-29 League win. Tanner Ljunggren, Gillogly and Geraets also added two hits each. Karst and Brett Mogen each singled. Hoglund pitched the first three innings of the game to pick up the win. Mogen finished the final four innings to earn a save.
Ten walks to Chancellor hitters led to a 10-7 loss for Dell Rapids Thursday, June 6. Dell Rapids out-hit Chancellor 6-5 with Hoglund collecting three of the hits. Gillogly, Karst and Matt Juba each singled. Four pitchers competed for Dell Rapids: Gillogly, Karst, Schmidt and Mogen.
The bats rebounded for 16 hits and Dell Rapids beat Flandreau 14-3 on the road Monday, June 10. Schmidt and Karst both had three hits. Geraets, Riley Jurgensen, Mogen and Gillogly added two hits apiece. Mogen pitched a complete game victory, limiting Flandreau to six hits, three runs and no walks.
Three nights later, Harrisburg jumped out to an 8-0 lead after two innings before Dell Rapids rallied. But Dells still came up short, 9-8, on Thursday, June 13. Schmidt led Dell Rapids with three singles and a double. Hoglund and Karst both singled twice. Schroeder tripled and Gillogly, Jurgensen and Jase Nelson each singled. Jurgensen pitched the first inning for Dell Rapids and was harmed by three errors. Schmidt came on in relief and slowed down the Harrisburg attack with four shutout innings to close the game. At one point he struck out 8 out of 9 hitters. Dell Rapids out-hit Harrisburg 12 to 5.
Dell Rapids got an 11-1, I-29 League midseason tournament win at Tea on Tuesday, June 18. Hoglund hit a double and two singles and also stole four bases. Karst and Ljunggren each added two hits. Beau Carpenter, Schmidt and Schroeder all singled. Karst pitched four shutout innings to start the game and earned the win. He gave up three hits, struck out three and walked none. Hoglund pitched two innings of relief, and Nelson finished the last inning without giving up a run.
