David Boer and the Baltic Bulldogs blew past St. Mary 58-36 Friday in Baltic.
The Cardinals started hot and stretched an 11-7 lead by the end of the first quarter. But Boer took over in the second quarter as Baltic took control.
“I thought his effort was the best we have gotten from him thus far,” said Alex Langner, Baltic head coach.
The Baltic forward battled with Cardinal Nate Klein all night on his way to 22 points and 12 rebounds.
Klein, a senior forward, scored five points and grabbed eight rebounds.
Baltic’s Joe Muston scored 15 points, while Kyler Johnson had eight rebounds and six steals for the Bulldogs.
“I thought this was our most complete win thus far this year,” Langner said. “We got contributions from guys that we normally don’t get.”
Mitch Brown was leading scorer for St. Mary with 11 points. Jared Scholten added eight points.
The Fliers beat Baltic 55-21 Tuesday, Feb. 18 in Flandreau.
“I thought we played pretty well offensively, just couldn’t get shots to fall,” Langner said. “Defensively we gave up too many easy looks.”
Joe Muston led Baltic with 11 points and three rebounds.
“I thought this could be a game we could get to set ourselves up for a strong final week of the season,” Langner said. “Unfortunately we just made too many mistakes and didn’t hit enough shots to give ourselves a chance to win.”
Baltic is 5-13 on the season.
